Die dreiteilige Serie DAS NAZI-KARTELL beleuchtet anhand von Interviews und Archivmaterial die unglaubliche Geschichte eines berüchtigten Zusammenspiels: ein Nazi und ein Narco stürzten 1980 die bolivianische Regierung und ebneten so den Weg für Pablo Escobar und heutige Drogenkartelle. Der Narco: Roberto Suarez, ein bolivianischer Geschäftsmann, Familienvater und Besitzer eines Jaguars als Haustier, kontrollierte damals 90 % des weltweiten Kokainhandels. Der Nazi: Klaus Barbie, auch bekannt als Klaus Altmann, war ein Kriegsverbrecher und ehemaliger Chef der Gestapo in Lyon. Auf ihrer Spur: Mike Levine, ein amerikanischer DEA-Agent, der in Argentinien stationiert war.

The cocaine trade as we know it today is one of the largest and most violent criminal enterprises in the world. The three-part series THE NAZI CARTEL uses interviews and archive material to shed light on the incredible story of a notorious collusion: a Nazi and a narco overthrew the Bolivian government in 1980, paving the way for Pablo Escobar and today's drug cartels. The narco: Roberto Suarez, a Bolivian businessman, family man and owner of a pet jaguar, controlled 90% of the global cocaine trade at the time. The Nazi: Klaus Barbie, also known as Klaus Altmann, was a war criminal and former head of the Gestapo in Lyon. On their trail: Mike Levine, an American DEA agent who was stationed in Argentina.
